Now, after experiencing a whole semester of hcd, i have a couple thoughts. I am trying to focus on the class and the content itself, and not focus on the environment from which we had class. I am doing this because zoom is a very difficult way to have an entire semester of class. The stress of covid, not seeing class friends, only relying on a small square of my screen to dictate what i learn, are all things that would make me dislike even my favorite class. With all this out of the way let me talk about what i think of human centered design.
Human centered design has taught me an entire dimension of design that i didn't know existed. It is an incredibly innovative way of looking at design and how to implement design in real world context. I have gained experience in collaborative design with our research project, i have learned how to design around data with our data discovery project, I have also gained experience in developing ideas to their fullest while planning out my degree project. All this experiences and lessons i have learned in this class will hopefully aide me in the real professional world of design and i look forward to showing people what i've learned.
The importance of data in design is something that i never really considered till this semester, where over half of my projects were data driven. Learning the complexity of gathering data and the importance of it is probably the biggest lesson i learned this semester. It has changed the way i look at design, and has made me reconsider career paths i have previously not been interested in.
